LAS VEGAS – Alex Bowman left Sunday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a top-10 finish to kick off the playoffs.

The driver shared how proud he was of the No. 88 team for the result, particularly after an opening stage that saw him running outside of the top 20 at times.

“We just didn’t fire off very good,” Bowman said. “As the race ran, we got our car much better. I think kind of the in between from day to night was the best we were. When it grouped up there at the end, it helped out some of the other cars. But, proud of my guys.”

The green-checkered flag at the end of Stage 2 saw Bowman pick up an extra point for a 10th-place finish, and he maintained a top-10 spot for the majority of the final segment before crossing the finish line in sixth.

It marked the No. 88 team’s first top-10 since Michigan last month, and the driver was happy to start the 10-race playoffs on a high note. Still, he had one frustration in particular.

“I wish we would have gotten some more stage points,” he said, “but we’ll take sixth.”

The finish was his eighth top-10 result of the season, and now he and the No. 88 team will look to build on that momentum as the opening round of the playoffs continues this weekend at Richmond Raceway.
