CONCORD, N.C. – This year, Hendrick Motorsports partner Hertz is celebrating its everyday heroes – ordinary people doing extraordinary things and going out of their way to provide exceptional service.

At Hendrick Motorsports, there are plenty of everyday heroes as well that help make the organization what it is. With that in mind, the organization has been recognizing its own Hertz Heroes at Hendrick Motorsports throughout the season.

The next of those heroes to be honored is Dale Ledbetter, general manager of Hendrick Performance.

“The pride that everyone has in working for Hendrick,” Ledbetter said, “you don’t see that anywhere else.”

He sat down with the driver of the No. 24 Hertz Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, William Byron, for an in-depth chat about his role and his group’s latest venture with Hertz.

Ledbetter explained that Hendrick Performance is a division that Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick put together about a decade ago.

“We work on special projects,” he said. “We do a lot of special projects for him, sponsors and customers of his. This Hertz project is the largest project we’ve done so far.”

The Hertz project is the collaboration between Hendrick Motorsports and its partner to put fans and car enthusiasts behind the wheel of a limited-edition 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Camaro SS.

The custom Hertz-Hendrick Motorsports rides have a signature Hertz yellow-and-black paint scheme and plenty of features unique to these cars in particular, including custom wheels, interior badging and full performance upgrades outfitted by Hendrick Performance.

“This project is huge to me,” Ledbetter said. “To be able to create this history, what we’ve done with these cars, is the feather in my cap.”

There are just 224 of the cars available – 200 of the Camaro SS and 24 of the Camaro ZL1 – to rent.

“I don’t think anybody’s going to rent a car with more horsepower,” Ledbetter said of the 750-horsepower Camaro ZL1. “Both cars have a similar graphics package, and we’ve done wheels, caliper and engine upgrades to both cars.”

In addition to being able to rent the cars, fans have the chance to win a 2020 Hertz-Hendrick Motorsports Camaro SS through The Hertz Ultimate Ride Sweepstakes.

Five finalists will win an exclusive package that features a driving experience at Charlotte Motor Speedway with Byron, a private, behind-the-scenes tour of the Hendrick Motorsports campus, passes to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and lunch with Byron and the No. 24 team.

At the track, the five finalists will each receive a key, but only one key will start the Camaro SS, earning the piece of automotive history for the key holder.

Enter to win at Hertz.com/camarosweepstakes, and additional entries can be earned by renting with Hertz, signing up for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards and by sharing the sweepstakes on social media.
