Johnson Quick in Rockingham ‘Happy Hour’

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (Feb. 21, 2004) – Jimmie Johnson was the quickest Hendrick Motorsports driver in the final NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series “Happy Hour” practice at North Carolina Speedway on Saturday with the sixth-best lap overall. Driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, Johnson posted a speed of 149.632 mph. Jeff Gordon was 13th in the session, followed by Brian Vickers in 31st and Terry Labonte in 33rd. Rusty Wallace was fastest overall at 150.549 mph. Johnson was 12th in the first of two Saturday practices, followed by Labonte in 13th, Gordon in 17th and Vickers in 19th. Wallace also paced the first session, posting a lap of 150.574 mph. Sunday’s Subway 400 will be broadcast live from North Carolina Speedway on FOX (1 p.m. ET) and MRN Radio (12:30 p.m. ET).
