DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2004) – In his first-ever qualifying attempt behind the wheel of the No. 5 Lowe’s Chevrolet, Kyle Busch earned the 14th position for Saturday’s Hershey’s Kisses 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
Busch drove to a lap of 179.508 mph (50.137 seconds) in Thursday’s NASCAR Busch Series time trials, besting notables David Green (16th), Bobby Hamilton Jr. (26th) and Matt Kenseth (29th).
Martin Truex Jr. earned the pole position at 181.138 mph (49.686 seconds).
Saturday will mark Busch’s second career event at Daytona after starting from the outside pole to win last week’s ARCA Series event at the 2.5-mile track.
The Hershey’s Kisses 300 will be broadcast live from Daytona by NBC and MRN Radio beginning at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
