CONCORD, N.C. -- Nick Jobes and Sam Morris put the pedal to the metal in Wednesday night’s eNASCAR Heat Pro League Series Wild Card race with hopes of securing the final spot in the championship race.
Both drivers had to win their respective races to have a chance to win the championship race. Morris placed eighth while Jobes finished in 10th.
Even though Morris and Jobes won't be in contention in next week's title event, they still will be rolling off the grid for the finale race.
Morris led off the night with a strong performance on the Xbox One, starting his night in third and moving swiftly into second.
Morris spent most of the race in that position, only moving out of the top 10 with six laps left in the race after making a pit stop.
After a caution with three laps left, Morris restarted in 11th. However, he wove his way back into the top 10, finishing his night in eighth place.
Jobes followed suit along with the rest of the PlayStation 4 drivers, starting off his night in 14th.
An early move yielded him a big jump to seventh place.
An early race pit stop dropped him to 10th place where he rejoined the rest of the field with 30 to go.
With 23 laps left, Jobes took advantage of his previous pit strategy and advanced into fifth place.
A late race caution with 17 to go put Jobes in the lead position where he held his place for the next six laps.
Jobes fell back to fourth place with nine to go, but still in contention to win the night.
Another on-track incident with two to go where he was involved bumped Jobes back to 12th.
Jobes was involved with another accident upon the next restart.
With two laps to go, Jobes restarted in eighth place and finished the race in 10th.
