CONCORD, N.C. -- The four Hendrick Motorsports drivers will honor those who have battled childhood or ovarian cancer by placing these heroes' names on their cars during the playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway next month.

Chase Elliott, William Byron, Jimmie Johnson and Alex Bowman all have pledged their support to Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr. and his “Nominate A Cancer Hero” initiative.

September is designated as childhood and ovarian cancer awareness month, and NASCAR and the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation have teamed up to honor those who have fought childhood or ovarian cancer or a medical provider who made a difference during a cancer patient's battle.

Fans now have the chance to offer their own support by nominating a hero to “ride” along with their favorite driver during the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 27. Through an eBay auction, people can bid to have a childhood or ovarian cancer hero's name above the door where the driver’s moniker normally is displayed. The auction is open from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1.

All proceeds will support the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Children’s Emergency Department in Huntersville, North Carolina. It also will support therapies for women and children undergoing cancer treatments and child life services across the racing community.
