CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 3, 2003) – On Tuesday, Oct. 7, Lowe’s Motor Speedway will host the much-anticipated Winston Cup Extreme Tribute Party, an eight-hour concert designed to give fans an opportunity to say “thank you” to R.J. Reynolds for their 33-year support of NASCAR’s premier racing tour -- the Winston Cup Series.
Hendrick Motorsports drivers Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Joe Nemechek and Jimmie Johnson have taped promos and farewell tributes in support of the effort, which features such national headliners as ZZ Top, Hank Williams Jr. and George Jones.
Other artists include young country talent Jimmy Wayne, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Rick Vito and Grand Ole Opry inductee Trace Adkins.
The show, which starts at 3 p.m. ET, will also feature the legendary Wayne Newton, who will perform with his complete Las Vegas stage act.
Net proceeds from the event will be donated in the name of RJR to Speedway Children’s Charities and earmarked for child-related causes.
