HMS Museum Extends Hours for Race Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 2, 2003) - During October “Race Week,” the Hendrick Motorsports museum will open its doors for extended hours. Free and open to the public, the 15,000-square-foot museum features memorabilia from Hendrick’s nearly 20 years in racing. Inside, fans can view NASCAR championship trophies, both of Jeff Gordon’s Daytona 500-winning Chevrolets, Terry Labonte’s “Iron Man” car, the “Days of Thunder” Lumina, Tim Richmond’s Chevy, and much more. Hours will be the following: Thursday, Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. ET Friday, Oct. 10, 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct.11, 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, Oct 13, 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. The Hendrick Team Store is located inside the museum, carrying a full line of apparel, die-cast models and collectibles. NASCAR fans are welcome to stop by the Hendrick Motorsports team shops of four-time Winston Cup champion Gordon, two-time Winston Cup champion Labonte, Team Lowe’s Racing driver Jimmie Johnson, UAW-Delphi driver Joe Nemechek, and Busch Series drivers Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch. All Hendrick Motorsports team shops are open to the public and have free fan viewing areas. The Hendrick Motorsports complex lies on more than 60 acres in Charlotte and contains more than 400,000 square feet of workspace. All Hendrick race cars are built on the premises and the engine staff builds in excess of 700 motors per year. The facility is located off Morehead Road, about one mile from Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
