CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott will lead the charge for his Hendrick Motorsports teammates at his hometown track of Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion will roll off the grid fifth for the race. Teammate Kyle Larson will be right next to Elliott with a sixth-place start. William Byron will be a couple of rows behind Elliott and Larson with a ninth-place start and Alex Bowman will round out the group when he begins the race 14th.
The starting lineup was set based on the metrics formula from last season. It applies the data from the driver's finishing position of the last race (25%), the car owner's finishing position from the last race (25%), team owner points ranking (35%) and the fastest lap from the previous race.
Denny Hamlin will start from the pole position.
