Nemechek’s Reward is Helping Others

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 27, 2003) – Joe Nemechek won USG “Driver of the Race” honors for his performance at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, where he won his third career NASCAR Winston Cup Series event in May. Part of the prize money, which is awarded to each winner of the 36 individual Winston Cup championship events, goes to the driver’s favorite charity. Nemechek chose the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, a cause he’s been involved with since losing his brother, John, to a racing accident six years ago. “When my brother died, we donated all of his organs in order to help others continue their lives,” said Nemechek, driver of the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevy. “The donation of children’s organs is very important to me because you have these youngsters that really haven’t had the opportunity to experience life. “Anything we can do to improve the lives of children goes a long way.” To learn more about the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, visit their Web site at http://www.cota.org.
