UAW-Delphi Paces Hendrick at First Atlanta Practice

HAMPTON, Ga. (March 7, 2003) – Joe Nemechek posted the quickest lap of any Hendrick Motorsports driver during Friday’s NASCAR Winston Cup Series pre-qualifying practice at Atlanta Motor Speedway, driving the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevy to a 190.136-mph lap. Nemechek was eighth in the session, with Jeff Gordon 11th, Jimmie Johnson 12th and Terry Labonte 34th. Ryan Newman was fastest overall at 191.867 mph, followed by Matt Kenseth and Elliott Sadler in the top three. Winston Cup qualifying is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. EST.
