Nemechek Leads Hendrick in Rockingham Qualifying

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (Feb. 21, 2003) – Joe Nemechek led all Hendrick Motorsports drivers in NASCAR Winston Cup Series qualifying on Friday at North Carolina Speedway, posting the 14th-fastest lap at 153.884 mph. Driving the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevy, Nemechek was also the fastest of his teammates in pre-qualifying practice at 154.065 mph, good for third overall. Four-time Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon will start 23rd on Sunday at the Rockingham, N.C., race track, followed by Terry Labonte in 31st and Jimmie Johnson in 37th.
