DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2003) – Jeff Gordon, Joe Nemechek and Jimmie Johnson all earned top-10 finishes in Thursday’s two NASCAR Winston Cup Series qualifying races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
In the first of the Gatorade Twin 125s, Gordon nabbed seventh place overall, with Nemechek a close eighth in the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Monte Carlo. Driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevy, Johnson was sixth in the second 125-mile sprint.
Terry Labonte, driver of the No. 5 Kellogg’s / got milk? Chevrolet, was 17th in the first event, followed by David Green in 19th.
Chevrolet swept both 125s as Robby Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. took home victories in the first and second races respectively.
The lineup for Sunday’s Daytona 500 has been set, with Johnson 12th, Gordon 13th, Nemechek 15th and Labonte 41st. Green failed to make the field.
