PHOENIX – Hendrick Motorsports turned in a strong qualifying effort at Phoenix Raceway, putting three cars inside the top 10 for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event.
William Byron led the charge for the organization, putting the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in third overall to match his best-ever start at the 1-mile track. He was followed by teammates Kyle Larson in seventh, Alex Bowman in ninth and Chase Elliott in 19th. Chevrolet race cars filled six of the top-10 positions in qualifying.
Ryan Blaney earned the pole position.
The Camaro ZL1s of Hendrick Motorsports were also fast in pre-qualifying practice at Phoenix. In the only session of the weekend, Byron was fourth, Larson fifth, Elliott eighth and Bowman 19th.
