WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 10, 2002) -- Jeff Gordon was third in Saturday’s final NASCAR Winston Cup Series “Happy Hour” practice at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.
The four-time champion drove his No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet to a fast lap of 72.838 seconds and 121.091 mph in the last session leading into Sunday’s Sirius Satellite Radio @ The Glen. In Saturday’s first morning practice, Gordon was a disappointing 41st overall.
In Happy Hour, Jimmie Johnson was 17th in the No. 48 Lowe’s Monte Carlo, Terry Labonte 25th in the No. 5 Kellogg’s Chevy and Joe Nemechek 31st in the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet.
Johnson was 13th in the first practice session of the day, followed by Labonte in 26th and Nemechek in 35th.
Matt Kenseth was quickest in Happy Hour at 72.753 seconds and 121.232 mph, while Tony Stewart led the early practice at 72.600 seconds and 121.488 mph.
The Sirius Satellite Radio @ The Glen is scheduled for a 1 p.m. EDT green flag at Watkins Glen International on Sunday, Aug. 10.
