Hendrick Earns Second Top 10 of 2002 at IRP

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 4, 2002) -- Ricky Hendrick brought home his second top-10 finish of the 2002 NASCAR Busch Series season on Saturday, finishing seventh in the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The Charlotte, N.C., native started the event 36th in the No. 5 GMAC Chevy, working his way through the field to nab his best finish in 16 starts this year. The performance bumps the young driver forward one position in the overall Busch Series standings to 25th and lands him second among drivers with 16 starts or fewer. Three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Jack Sprague kept his grasp on third place in Busch Series points, finishing 17th in the No. 24 NetZero Monte Carlo after starting the event in 14th. After 22 races this season, Sprague is 287 markers behind series leader Greg Biffle. Biffle earned his fourth victory of 2002 on Saturday, winning the event and widening the point margin between himself and second-place Jason Keller. The NASCAR Busch Series will next visit Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 17 for the Cabela’s 250. The event will be carried live on TNT and MRN Radio.
