LONG POND, Pa. – Chase Elliott and the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet took to Pocono Raceway on Friday afternoon for practice and qualifying at "The Tricky Triangle" in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Opening with practice, Elliott was 12th-fastest on speed with a best lap of 55.193 seconds through the 30-minute practice session for all entries. Crew chief Greg Ives called his driver into the pits for one round of adjustments during the session as the 27-year-old wheelman continued to adjust to the track.

Shortly after practice, Elliott took to the racing surface for qualifying. Rolling off fourth among 41 competitors, the No. 17 HendrickCars.com entry crossed the line with a lap time of 54.286 seconds, putting him on top of the leaderboard for the time being. By the time qualifying had wrapped up, the team had earned the 13th starting position for Saturday's 90-lap main event.
Coming up through the ranks, Elliott won the 2014 Xfinity Series championship, which was his rookie year in the division. In 82 Xfinity races, the driver from Dawsonville, Georgia, has five career victories, 34 top-five finishes and 66 top-10s. As an organization, Hendrick Motorsports has earned 26 Xfinity Series victories with the most recent triumph coming from Tony Stewart at Daytona International Speedway in 2009.
