CONCORD, N.C. - Of late, Hendrick Motorsports has dominated NASCAR Cup Series races at Watkins Glen International with an iron fist.
The organization will enter Sunday's race, which will serve as the second of the Round of 16 in the Cup Series playoffs, having won five consecutive events at the 2.45-mile road course. William Byron cruised to victory lane last year with Chase Elliott winning back-to-back events in 2018 and 2019 and Kyle Larson pulling his own two-peat in 2021 and 2022. There was no race at Watkins Glen in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All four drivers in the Hendrick Motorsports stable - Larson, Elliott, Byron and Alex Bowman - have compiled plenty of statistical data to support their individual, road course prowess. That includes three wins on road courses this season, one each by Byron (COTA), Larson (Sonoma) and Bowman (Chicago Street Course).
