CONCORD N.C. - The Sixth Annual Hendrick Motorsports Fishing Tournament was held on campus under bright sunshine on Saturday morning.

Hendrick Motorsports teammates and their families as well as GM Technical Center employees were permitted to participate in the event, sponsored by Motor Racing Outreach, Bizz Baits and Redeye Designs. The event was organized by the Hendrick Motorsports Faith Committee spearheaded by the organization's chaplain, Donnie Floyd.

Participants were permitted to fish any of the three ponds on campus from 8-11 a.m. with prizes given out in six categories.

And yet, the event, which has become a passion project for Floyd, is about so much more than winning.

"The fishing tournament was birthed out of the idea of bringing employees and their families together for a fun day of fishing, being competitive and fellowship," Floyd said. "For many families, it is the highlight of their year. The culture of Hendrick Motorsports is about people. The ultimate goal of the fishing tournament is to bring Hendrick Motorsports people together for a day of fun and fellowship."

Lunch and an awards ceremony were held afterward in the Hendrick Motorsports Team Center.
