CONCORD, N.C. - Winning a championship in any of NASCAR’s three national series is a remarkable feat but winning titles in all three?
That’s next level.
For No. 48 Ally pit crew member Donnie Tasser, this rare achievement is now part of his story.
“It’s certainly something special,” Tasser said. “I didn’t really think about it until after it happened. As far as over-the-wall guys go, I don’t know anyone who has done this. You show up to the track every week and every season, and you want to win no matter if you’re pitting truck, Xfinity or Cup. Whatever you’re doing you want to win. To knock all three of those out is just pretty special.”
Tasser’s NASCAR journey began in 2014 when he joined Hendrick Motorsports’ pit department.
In 2019, he worked as the front-tire changer for Matt Crafton’s No. 88 truck in the NASCAR Truck Series. Crafton went on to secure his third championship, finishing second in the season finale but outperforming the other Championship 4 drivers.
Tasser then moved up to the NASCAR Cup Series, starting with the No. 48 team and Jimmie Johnson before transitioning to the No. 5 team with Kyle Larson in 2021. Larson’s dominant 2021 season featured 10 wins and a championship. In the final race at Phoenix Raceway, a perfect final pit stop put Larson in the lead for the last 24 laps, sealing the victory.
In 2024, Tasser completed his championship trifecta. As the front-tire changer for Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 JR Motorsports team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he played a key role in the season finale. Despite starting at the rear in a backup car and battling through a penalty, Allgaier fought back to win the championship – securing Tasser’s place in NASCAR history.
Currently serving as the front-tire changer for Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 48 team with Alex Bowman, Tasser continues to make an impact to his team’s success. In 2024, the No. 48 pit crew earned the Mechanix Wear Most Valuable Pit Crew Award for their standout performance in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
“Personally, that was the cherry on top,” Tasser said. “That was one of the big things on my career resume that would be missing. It’s a testament to our No. 48 pit crew and our whole team this year. It just speaks to the work we’ve been putting in and the speed that we’ve had. We put it all together and had that support from Blake [Harris] and the road crew to go out and do our thing every week.”
