CONCORD, N.C. - The time for preseason hype and exhibition races is over.
And with the NASCAR Cup Series season opening with its biggest race, the DAYTONA 500, the Hendrick Motorsports contingent will hit the 2.5-mile, storied tri-oval in their Sunday best. Dress for success, or so they say.
After William Byron took the checkered flag last year, Hendrick Motorsports moved into a tie for the most DAYTONA 500 wins of all time with nine. Byron became the sixth driver to win the Great American Race for Rick Hendrick, joining Jeff Gordon (three), Jimmie Johnson (two), Geoff Bodine, Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Despite plenty of close calls over the years, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman are each looking to break through in NASCAR's most prestigious crown jewel race.
