DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After a rain delay of nearly three-and-a-half hours, the 67th DAYTONA 500 is set to resume.

All week, thunderstorms loomed in the forecast, causing NASCAR to move the start of the Great American Race up an hour from 2:30 to 1:30 p.m. However, shortly after the green flag, rain fell and just 11 laps in, the race was halted. Drivers were finally called back to their cars at 5:25 p.m.

Hendrick Motorsports' William Byron, last year's winner of Harley J. Earl trophy, is the race leader, moving up a few spots from his fifth-starting position. The 2024 DAYTONA 500 was rained into Monday.

Scattered showers remain possible with the latest forecast improving into the night.
