NASCAR race this weekend: Driver averages for Larson, Elliott, Byron and Bowman at Phoenix Raceway

CONCORD, N.C. - Certainly, Phoenix Raceway has been a special place for Hendrick Motorsports. 

As is the case with many circuits on the NASCAR Cup Series slate, the 14-time-championship-winning organization has piled up an unmatched level of success there, leading all teams in wins (13), poles (15), top-five finishes (58), top-10 finishes (105) and laps led (3,570). 

But even among Hendrick Motorsports' current roster of drivers, heading back to the desert brings with it fond memories. That's especially true for Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, both of whom have a win at Phoenix that also resulted in a championship (Elliott in 2020 and Larson in 2021). 

William Byron also has a victory at Phoenix and the 1-mile, dog-legged oval has been one of his best tracks. His current streak of 17-straight stages placing in the top 10 is two behind the all-time record for any track and and his eight top-10 finishes in the desert are his most at any venue along with Kansas Speedway and Martinsville Speedway. 

And Phoenix Raceway serves as the de facto home track for Alex Bowman, a native of Tucson, Arizona. He's led 196 laps in his Cup career at Phoenix and will also make a start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 17 entry.
