NASCAR Bristol driver averages: Kyle Larson leads Hendrick Motorsports at Bristol

CONCORD, N.C. - Yes, Darlington Raceway was the host of Throwback Weekend this past Saturday and Sunday. 

But a quick brush up on history will demonstrate just how dominate Kyle Larson can be at Bristol Motor Speedway. 

Larson led 462 of 500 laps at Bristol this past September, scoring a playoff victory in dominating fashion. The laps led were the most by any Hendrick Motorsports driver at any track, ever. 

That was one of two wins for Larson at the 0.533-mile, high-banked oval and pushed his career number of circuits paced to 1,351. That's the second most of all active drivers next only to Kyle Busch, who's made 19 more starts at Bristol than Larson. 

This past offseason, Larson cited the Tennessee short track as his favorite on the NASCAR ledger. 

"To me, it's the closest style to a dirt sprint car race although it's a lot longer still," Larson said. "Just the intensity, the aggression, the fast-paced style of that race, I'm comfortable with. And, and I just love that track. I look forward to going there."

Chase Elliott, meanwhile, has a string of four consecutive top-10 showings at Bristol and won the All-Star Race there in 2020, his championship season. He finished second to Larson in the fall. Alex Bowman also has back-to-back top 10s in Tennessee while William Byron has a pair of third-place finishes in the Next Gen era.
