CONCORD, N.C. – Last year at Watkins Glen International, Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS found his way into the top-10 – and the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
His eighth-place finish at the 2.45-mile road course was enough to secure his spot in NASCAR’s postseason.
That brought Hendrick Motorsports’ total to 34 top-10s in 96 starts at the Glen. That total is in addition to six wins and 18 top-five finishes.
In that August 2013 race, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were involved in various incidents during the 90-lap event that left them scored 34th, 36th and 30th, respectively.
