AVONDALE, Ariz. – Kasey Kahne will make his 400th Sprint Cup start on Sunday, and he will begin with a top-10 position for the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS.
Kahne qualified ninth in Friday's session at Phoenix International Raceway.
Along with Kahne, Jeff Gordon, piloting the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS, will start inside the top 10 in 10th place.
"Every week so far this year, we've been right there in the top 10; maybe a little better," Kahne said. "I'm really happy with [crew chief] Keith [Rodden] and the guys. They're doing an awesome job."
All four Hendrick Motorsports drivers made it into the top 24 in the qualifying session, though only Kahne and Gordon made it to the third and final round.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson will take the green flag in 16th and 20th, respectively.
Kevin Harvick took the pole with his Hendrick Motorsports engine and will start Sunday's race at the top of the field.
