Chevrolet salutes 'Everyday Heroes' through promotion

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 12, 2010) – Chevrolet, the official ride of Country Music, once again is honoring our men and women in uniform by bringing back the popular promotion, “Chevrolet Salutes America’s Heroes.” Launching Sept. 13 at www.youreverydayhero.com, this promotion encourages people to nominate friends or family members who, while in uniform, have demonstrated the military spirit of overcoming obstacles, inspiring others and positively impacting their country and community. “Our service men and women give so much,” said Phil Caruso, Chevrolet national promotions manager. “Not only do they have the important task of protecting our freedom, but they also give a great deal to their communities. We at Chevrolet feel that it is vitally important to recognize those contributions. Chevrolet is proud to combine its support of both NASCAR and Country Music through its partnerships with Jeff Gordon, Brad Paisley, Hendrick Motorsports and CMA to help tell the stories of these American Heroes.” “CMA is proud to team up with Chevrolet for this great promotion,” said Sheri Warnke, CMA vice president of Strategic Partnerships. “Chevrolet has always been a great partner, not only with the CMA Awards, but also with CMA Music Festival. Ten finalists will be chosen, and visitors to the site can vote for their favorite. The promotion will culminate with the “hero” receiving a trip to “The 44th Annual CMA Awards” on Wednesday, Nov. 10, and an all new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. One lucky voter could win a trip for two to Nashville for “The 44th Annual CMA Awards.” Chevrolet supports men and women in uniform through two additional programs. Chevrolet began a year-long campaign in May with a goal of raising $1 million to support Cell Phones for Soldiers. To reach that goal, Chevrolet has called on General Motors employees, NASCAR race fans, and Chevrolet dealers across the country to donate their unwanted, gently used cell phones to the cause. Cell Phones for Soldiers will recycle the cell phones, and use the proceeds to provide pre-paid calling cards and cell phones to troops serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Chevrolet and USAA, a financial services provider for the military community, provided more than 21,000 discounts, for a total value of $24 million, to help U.S. troops and their families purchase a new Chevrolet in 2009. The result contributes to the industry’s best military discount program: the USAA and General Motors joint discount program offers the largest selection of vehicles and family-member eligibility of any car company.
