CONCORD, N.C. -- It's down to the final four.

Only Michigan, Bristol, Darlington and Richmond remain before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup commences, but the 16-driver field is far from set.

After Sunday's race at Watkins Glen, there were plenty of changes to the Chase Grid. Through it all, Jimmie Johnson remains in the top spot, but he's joined by another four-win driver in Kyle Busch, who settled into second.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is now in fifth place, but like Johnson is locked into the Chase as long as both teammates start the final four races of the regular season.

Jeff Gordon, meanwhile, finds himself in 14th. He trails Paul Menard in 13th by just two points, and is 15 points behind Jamie McMurray, currently the points leader for drivers without a win.

“We just keep fighting and digging and try to get the finishes that we need to get ourselves solidly in there," Gordon said.

For the first time, Kasey Kahne finds himself outside of the tentative Chase Grid. He is 51 points behind the current 16th-place driver, Clint Bowyer, in the standings. But he has confidence in the No. 5 team's ability to find Victory Lane down the stretch, just as Kahne did to make the Chase last season.

“There are some tracks we can run really well at," he said.
