BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, three Hendrick Motorsports drivers will start inside the top 11.
Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. all made the final round of Friday's qualifying session.
The two-round, single-car format saw Johnson earn the top starting position of the Hendrick Motorsports teammates -- the eighth position for the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS.
Earnhardt was just behind him in ninth in the No. 88 Microsoft Chevrolet SS, and Kahne qualified the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS 11th.
"Man, I felt like we were carrying a lot of throttle and should have put up a good enough lap to contest for the top three," Earnhardt said.
Jeff Gordon, in the No. 24 Pepsi Chevrolet SS, will roll off the grid 21st.
Matt Kenseth took home the pole position.
