All-Star qualifying a wash, Johnson and Gordon in top 10
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 21, 2010) – Qualifying for Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star event was canceled due to rain on Friday, and the field for the non-points event will be set according to a random draw.
Earlier Friday, teams drew randomly for their qualifying order. When rain showered Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR officials decided to cancel the All-Star qualifying. As a result, Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, will roll off the grid seventh, while Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet will start eighth.
Their teammates Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Delphi/GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 The Dale Jr. Foundation/AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet, will line up 15th and 18th, respectively.
Race coverage of Saturday’s 100-lap affair will begin at 9 p.m. ET on SPEED.
