DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2010) – Jeff Gordon earned the only top-10 finish for Hendrick Motorsports during Saturday’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway.
Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, finished sixth in the exhibition event, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. posted the next best result. The driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet crossed the finish line in 11th.
Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, ran as high as third and finished 13th.
Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, finished 20th after being involved in two incidents during the race. Eight cars, including Martin, were involved in the final accident that happened on the last lap of the exhibition event.
Now the four drivers gear up for the rest of Speedweeks, which starts with Thursday's Gatorade Duels. Martin will sit on the pole position for the first Duel and will race with teammates Johnson and Gordon. Earnhardt will start first in the second Duel. Race coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET on SPEED.
