CONCORD, N.C. – With a 2015 win in Atlanta on his resume, Jimmie Johnson and his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet team head to Georgia this weekend fired up and looking for a repeat victory.
Before leaving, Johnson sat down with HendrickMotorsports.com to dish out a few details about himself.
Let’s go for six with Six-Time.
1) Johnson has dubbed himself the “Carpool Extraordinaire.” Since he is away most weekends, he takes full advantage of dropping off his two daughters at school and picking them up as often as he can.
2) The driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS is known for his healthy routine. So, what is his favorite cheat snack? Ice cream. “I found ice cream sandwiches in the freezer last night on my midnight walk and I didn’t eat just one but had two.”
3) Although he can't pick just one athlete that he currently admires, Johnson said he has friends in many of the extreme sports including cycling, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, surfing and Motocross, and he would take a little bit from each athlete if he could.
4) The driver said his most-used emojis are the thumbs-up and the rock-on.
5) If Johnson could share just one thing that he has learned throughout his career with rookie teammate Chase Elliott, it would be that patience is key. “It shows up in many forms, obviously in the car, outside of the car, team dynamics, human dynamics, all these different aspects. Patience really seems to be the thing to lead to good decisions.”
6) One place Johnson has not yet visited that he would like to is Thailand. “We’ve had a couple trips planned with three or four different spots in there to hit but it’s always been a little dicey with civil unrest. We actually had a trip canceled because of it. Down through that area, it’s just so different; something I’ve never seen or experienced before.”
