CONCORD, N.C. -- Prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR announced two tweaks to the rules package.
They focused on welded truck trailing arms and the brake-cooling rules.
Now, NASCAR has announced further rules updates that will be in effect for the upcoming races at Michigan International Speedway (June 12) and Kentucky Speedway (July 9).
Once again, they are designed to further reduce downforce and sideforce.
First, the initial static rear toe will be set to zero in order to reduce skew-generated sideforce. That rule was in place for the All-Star Race and Sprint Showdown.
Additionally, there will be aerodynamics package tweaks to reduce aero-generated downforce and sideforce.
That includes shortening the spoiler from 3.5 inches to 2.5 inches, reducing the splitter to 2 inches and resizing the deck fin to match the spoiler.
The new rules were an industry-wide collaboration to further enhance the racing, which this season has already generated some of the closest competition in years.
