BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Chase Elliott will lead his teammates to the green flag Sunday in Michigan in 10th.
Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne made it through to the second round and will take the green flag in 16th and 23rd, respectively.
"Qualifying is not my specialty by any means," Johnson said. "Sixteenth doesn't look good but it's not the worst. For us, truthfully, the track has changed so much since our practice session. The car is just really really loose. We need to go on the scales and change some springs around to get grip in the car."
A second run late in the first round of qualifying was not enough for Dale Earnhardt Jr. to advance to the second round. He will round out the Hendrick Motorsports effort Sunday by taking the green flag in 27th.
Joey Logano will start on the pole.
