Pocono qualifying rained out, field set by points

LONG POND, Pa. (July 31, 2009) -- The field for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event will be set according to the owner points after Friday's qualifying session was rained out at Pocono Raceway. Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, will take the outside pole position, while Jeff Gordon will line up his No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet in third. Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Cheez-It/CARQUEST Chevrolet, will start in ninth, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. will roll off the grid in 22nd in his No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet. Race coverage will start at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN, and the green flag is scheduled to drop at 2 p.m.
