SPARTA, Ky. -- Jimmie Johnson's 77 career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins lead all active drivers.
But a win at Kentucky Speedway has eluded him.
Johnson has never driven the No. 48 Chevrolet SS to Victory Lane at Kentucky, Chicago, Watkins Glen or Homestead-Miami.
He'll look to cross one of those tracks off the list Saturday night.
"I only have a handful left, and it would mean so much," Johnson said. "Again, it's not something that I started my career saying, 'I've got to win at every racetrack,' but now that the opportunity is in front of me, I'm certainly motivated to get it done."
Johnson will have to maneuver around Kentucky in a backup car, however, after his primary ride suffered damage during practice.
With inclement weather ultimately cancelling Friday night's Sprint Cup qualifying, Johnson will take the green flag in ninth, as the starting order was set based on owner's points.
Despite moving to a backup car, he will maintain his ninth-place starting position per the rulebook if weather permits another practice on Friday and Johnson participates.
