JOLIET, Ill. (July 8, 2009) -- Brad Keselowski will attempt to qualify for his fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event this season driving the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.
Keselowski, who will try to make the field in a total of seven Cup events with Hendrick this season, has had success behind the wheel of the No. 25 Chevrolet. Most recently, he scored a seventh-place finish at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on May 9.
This weekend, Keselowski will take that same car -- Chassis No. 25-537 -- to Chicagoland Speedway. Qualifying is set for 8:40 p.m. ET on Thursday. SPEED will cover the event starting at 8:30 p.m.
If Keselowski is successful, he will line up for Saturday's Cup event, which will be televised by TNT. Race coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the green flag is scheduled to drop at 8:30 p.m.
Keselowski isn't a stranger to Chicagoland’s 1.5-mile tri-oval. The 25-year-old Michigan native has made two previous NASCAR Nationwide Series starts there, most recently scoring a third-place finish last July.
"Chicagoland is a pretty special place for me as it was the first track I got to race at as a JR Motorsports driver two years ago," Keselowski said. "That pretty much got me to where I am today, which includes having the opportunity to even be sitting in this GoDaddy.com Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports. The last time I was in this car, we had a solid top-10 finish, and I really think we can do that again this weekend. I feel like the team is coming together, and I'm hopeful that will continue in Chicago."
Keselowski also is looking forward to working with the newest member of the No. 25 team -- crew chief Tony Eury Jr. Eury, who previously was the crew chief for the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports team, swapped spots with Keselowski's former crew chief Lance McGrew in late May.
"I've had a chance to talk with him over the past few weeks, and so I think we will definitely be on the same page communication-wise,” Keselowski said. “He brings a lot of experience to the table having the background he does and having worked with Dale Jr. While I haven't raced at this track before (in the Sprint Cup Series), Tony Jr. was able to participate in the tire test a few weeks ago, so I think the information he'll have from that will definitely be helpful. It's going to be good to work with him and see what I can learn from him over these next three races."
Eury, who also is helping oversee Hendrick Motorsports' Research and Development department, is excited about the opportunity to work with a young driver like Keselowski. Eury will crew chief the No. 25 team for the final three scheduled Cup attempts -- Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 16, Kansas Speedway on Oct. 4 and Lowe's Motor Speedway on Oct. 17. The final race was recently added as a replacement for the May 31 event at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
"I think we'll complement each other well," Eury said. "I've watched Brad the last couple of years, and I look forward to working with him."
