CONCORD, N.C. -- This weekend marks a unique milestone for Chase Elliott.

Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, he will make his 24th start as the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet SS.

"It's definitely a cool number to reach, for sure," Elliott said. "It's been fun driving the No. 24 car this year and getting used to that being my number. I'm excited about that."

The 24th points-paying start in the No. 24 Chevy will take place at Michigan, the site of Elliott's career-best finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

In June, he took the checkered flag in second place, part of a streak of six consecutive top-10 finishes.

"I know we're going back with basically the same rules package this weekend again, so I think it'll be interesting to see," he said. "I don't think it's going to be very different from that race. I feel like a lot of things are going to be really similar, hopefully. Hopefully the speed in our car is similar."

The rookie said he won't get picky as to where he puts together a solid finish, but acknowledged that it would be "cool" to find Victory Lane at Michigan in Chevrolet's backyard.

The fact that it will be his 24th start in the No. 24 doesn't hurt, either.

"I think it's pretty neat -- hard to believe," he said. "The year's gone by quick. Still a lot of racing left, though."
