The Dale Jr. Foundation on No. 88 hood for Sprint All-Star Race

CONCORD, N.C. (May 15, 2009) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. will sport an all-white No. 88 Impala featuring the logo from The Dale Jr. Foundation when he lines up for Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Founded in 2007, The Dale Jr. Foundation is a charity dedicated to giving underprivileged individuals, especially youths, the resources to improve their confidence and education. This weekend, Earnhardt’s sponsors AMP Energy and National Guard have given up the hood so the 34-year-old driver can spotlight his foundation. Earnhardt captured his spot in this year’s all-star event by winning the June 2008 race at Michigan International Raceway, and he is hoping to improve upon his latest all-star performance. Last May, Earnhardt was runner-up in two of the four segments of the all-star event. He led 14 laps that night and finished the race eighth. “Winning the all-star race is really hard because obviously you only get a shot at it once a year, and there's so much preparation going into it,” said Earnhardt, who became the first rookie to win the event when he took the checkered flag in 2000. “It’s an exciting race. I think it's a great addition to our season, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the format works out this year. I think going 10 laps at the end of the race is an exciting option for the drivers and the fans.”
