Darlington qualifying: Gordon on outside pole

DARLINGTON, S.C. (May 9, 2009) -- Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard ESGR Chevrolet, will line up on the outside pole position for today's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Darlington Raceway. Gordon, who currently sits atop the driver standings, will start second in Saturday night's Southern 500 presented by GoDaddy.com at Darlington Raceway. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 7:20 p.m., ET. Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Cheez-It/CARQUEST Chevrolet, will line up 12th; while Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Mountain Dew/National Guard Chevrolet, will start 26th. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, will start 31st, and Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet will start 42nd.
