CONCORD, N.C. -- Last weekend at Richmond International Raceway, Chase Elliott piloted the No. 24 American Red Cross Chevrolet SS.

And he had a special guest along for the ride.

Molly Baer, a 6-year-old girl with a blood disorder called Beta Thalassemia Major in addition to a congenital heart defect, headed to Richmond with her family to meet Elliott.

The first-grade student receives two units of blood every three weeks and takes daily chelation medications along with infusions at her home.

Due to the generosity of blood donors that make each of those treatments possible, Baer is living life to the fullest.

Baer, an avid NASCAR fan, got the chance to come to her very first NASCAR race thanks to 3M and the American Red Cross. After meeting Elliott, she made sure to cheer on the American Red Cross team as Elliott raced his way into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
