CONCORD, N.C. (April 16, 2009) -- In celebration of The Jeff Gordon Foundation’s 10-Year Anniversary, SPEED has joined the Foundation’s effort to raise money through the TEN Match Campaign. Throughout the 2009 campaign, every contribution of $10 (TEN) or more will be matched personally by four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon -- up to $250,000. The funds raised will support pediatric cancer research, treatment and the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, N.C.
“There are a lot of good people in the NASCAR community doing great things for countless charities,” said SPEED President Hunter Nickell. “Having the opportunity to support Jeff and his foundation on this milestone effort is a great way for SPEED to be a meaningful part of that community.”
As part of its weekly NASCAR programming, SPEED will be highlighting the Foundation and how this charity has grown into an organization that provides more than $1 million in funding each year for programs and hospitals that care for our country’s most vulnerable children.
“It takes great partnerships to be successful and we are excited to be working with SPEED to promote the TEN Match Campaign,” said Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet. “The more people we can reach, the more successful the campaign will be, and, ultimately, the more kids we can help.”
The TEN Match Campaign does not rely on soliciting large contributions from corporations or organizations, instead reaching out to individuals to engage them in the mission for a modest contribution of $10. The Jeff Gordon Foundation will be accepting contributions to the TEN Match Campaign throughout 2009.
