CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing action returns to the 0.526-mile oval this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

As the Round of 8 in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup kicks off, the Hendrick Motorsports drivers will prepare for 500 laps and 263 miles around the Virginia short track.

The organization has seen much success at Martinsville, so before racing action begins, check out these nine fun facts about Hendrick Motorsports at Martinsville Speedway.

1) With 23 wins, Martinsville is the track where the organization has claimed the most wins since 1984.

2) Of those 23 wins, Jeff Gordon (9) and Jimmie Johnson (8) have a combined total of 17 victories.

3) Geoffrey Bodine contributed the first win in 1984 while Gordon is credited with the most recent victory in the fall of 2015.

4) Martinsville also tops the organization's charts for top-five finishes (76) and top-10s (119).

5) Drivers for the organization have led a cumulative total of 8,982 laps around the 0.526-mile track.

6) Hendrick Motorsports has 17 pole positions at Martinsville, the most recent courtesy of Johnson in 2013.

7) In the first six races Hendrick Motorsports competed in at Martinsville, the organization won four poles, thanks to Bodine (3) and Tim Richmond (1).
