CONCORD, N.C. -- With his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship, Jimmie Johnson earned a place in history right alongside Dale Earnhardt.
And no one was happier for the driver than Earnhardt's son and Johnson's teammate, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
"I was really happy for him because he and I shared some great conversation in the last several years about what that would mean to him," Earnhardt said of Johnson's accomplishment. "Having an understanding of how much that goal meant to him made me very happy for him."
