AVONDALE, Ariz. -- This week, Dale Earnhardt Jr. completed a two-day test at Phoenix International Raceway -- one more checked box on the way to the Daytona 500.
Earnhardt shared just how excited he was to take part in the test, and he explained how he and the No. 88 team go about altering the car throughout the day.
"A lot of times when we go through a certain section of changes, I ask (No. 88 team crew chief) Greg (Ives) not to tell me what we're doing so I'm giving him direct, unfiltered feedback," he said. "Then at the end of the day we go through all the notes and really get down to what we liked and what we didn't like."
The driver's test session was chronicled on social media, so let's take a look back at the event.

"We got underway and got to trying some stuff that we had on our list -- we've got a really long list," Earnhardt said on day one. "Greg and those guys are motoring right through it. We've seen that the car has really good speed."
He was just as excited to get day two started.
And as Earnhardt said during last week's media tour, Daytona "can’t get here fast enough.”
