CONCORD, N.C. –To kick-start the offseason, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is taking a good, old-fashioned road trip across the country with JR Motorsports driver Regan Smith.
Their destination? The snowy mountains of Colorado.
With nearly a 23-hour drive ahead of him, Earnhardt and company began their quest to the midwest.
The Daytona 500 champion gave up his seat behind the wheel for the first part of the trip, taking his role as the trip's co-pilot seriously.
But like any true NASCAR Sprint Cup driver, Earnhardt was ready to take the wheel for a little while.
Earnhardt's turn in the driver's seat must have tired him out, as he made a declaration to the Twitter world midway through the trip.
But he cured his road-trip blues with a solid pit stop.
After 21 hours of road-tripping, the group finally crossed the state lines of Colorado.
