CONCORD, N.C. – In just a matter of days, the Hendrick Motorsports haulers will hit the road, bound for Daytona International Speedway.
The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season is nearly here, and the teams are in the home stretch of preparing for what is to come.
No. 5 team crew chief Keith Rodden described it as “a very organized -- and busy -- time."
With The Clash just eight days away, No. 48 team crew chief Chad Knaus said that things are moving along at a good pace.
“Cars are coming along really well,” he said. “Engines are getting put in the race cars, all of our cars have been in the wind tunnel and they seem to have performed well aerodynamically in the lab test there. The engine shop has done a great job of getting us some really good engines and making some gains there.
“So, we're excited from that standpoint.”
Knaus said that as the defending champions, the No. 48 team knows it will head to Daytona with “a bit of a bullseye on your back.”
But the team is up to the challenge.
“Honestly, it's been a great offseason,” Knaus said. “The guys have had an opportunity to enjoy themselves, relax, take some time off for their families, and they're all raring and ready to go."
