CONCORD, N.C. – As it turns out, Chase Elliott won’t be hand-delivering your chicken wings any time soon.

Friday morning, No. 24 team partner Hooters announced that Elliott would take over as its new director of delivery. His job? To help hire and train prep crew members and delivery drivers as Hooters prepares for Hooters Delivery across locations nationwide.

Elliott even tweeted that he was excited to take on the new gig.

Tapping into Elliott’s expertise in vehicles and speedy results, Elliott’s new role was designed to help bring Hooters menu items directly to customers’ doors.

“Being behind the wheel of the No. 24 Hooters car is going to be a lot of fun. Now, off the track, I look forward to steering the brand’s latest great initiative. After all, it combines two of my favorite things – driving and Hooters chicken wings,” Elliott said. “I may not have restaurant experience, but I strive to get ahead of the field in everything I do. Learning from my experience on the track, I’ll treat every task given to me with speed and determination.”

He even supposedly helped design special delivery firesuits that pay homage to the iconic Hooters uniform.

But, on Saturday, Hooters let fans in on the secret -- it was all an April Fools’ Day joke! With one big exception -- Hooters Delivery is real, and coming soon.

Hooters will be featured on Elliott’s No. 24 Chevrolet SS as the primary sponsor at Talladega Superspeedway on May 7, at Texas Motor Speedway on Nov. 5 and at Phoenix International Raceway on Nov. 12.
