Johnson optimistic about car set-up for Dover
DOVER, Del. (May 29, 2008) -- Driver Jimmie Johnson is hoping for a solid finish at Dover (Del.) International Speedway after his team arrived at a strong setup for the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet last week.
Johnson and his team believed that they finally had found a winning formula during the 600-mile event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem cut Johnson out of the race early.
Johnson is excited for another chance to test out the changes his team has made to the No. 48 Chevrolet. In 12 starts at the one-mile concrete oval, Johnson has three wins, six top-five finishes and seven top-10s.
“Dover’s a different track,” Johnson said. “You do have the high speeds but it’s more of a short track. And a unique-shaped track, the way you fly into the corner and then turn around and jump back out is much different. So hopefully everything carries over.”
