BRISTOL, Tenn. – Another 125 laps are complete at Bristol Motor Speedway and for the second stage in a row, Jimmie Johnson has led his teammates to the green-checkered flag in third.
With this top-five finish, Johnson earned another eight bonus points.
Teammates Chase Elliott and Kasey Kahne finished the stage in 12th and 18th, respectively.
An incident on Lap 217 involving Dale Earnhardt Jr. brought out the second caution of the stage and ended his day. He was scored 37th.
“We got out of the pits and there was some oil in the pit stall,” Earnhardt said. “I don’t know why, but it’s got oil all over the engine compartment so I went into the corner and just went straight into the wall.”
Martin Truex Jr. won the stage.
With the first two stages complete, a final 250-lap segment remains before the checkered flag waves at Bristol.
